Carole Mikita Reporting Big news in the ballet world. Ballet West has named a new artistic director, from one of the world's most prestigious companies, The Joffrey Ballet.

Ballet West Hires New Artistic Director

Adam Sklute, new artistic director, Ballet West: "What an amazing company to be able to be associated with, such a legacy. I still am walking on air and so excited to be able to become a part of the Salt Lake City community. I have been following Ballet West my entire career, have always been excited and inspired by its repetoire and everything that it has offered the dance world."

He has toured the world with the Joffrey and right now he's in Michigan with the company. He loves the classical full-length productions that Ballet West is known for and he performed in Robert Altman's film "The Company" starring Neve Campbell.

Ballet West dancers are excited about Sklute's experience and profile in the dance world, but also about his enthusiasm for his new company.

Christiana Bennett, principal dancer, Ballet West: "He's very exciting to be around. He makes you love the art even more, which I didn't think was possible, but he makes me feel like I wanna dance...forever."

Christopher Ruud, Ballet West Principal Dancer: "I would describe my most prevalent feeling as encouragement...just, it feels good...it feels good that we're gonna get somebody who will take this company forward."

Sklute promises to come to Salt Lake in the next few weeks. We will all get to meet him then.
