PROVO, Utah -- The Mountain West Conference has announced ABC will broadcast the Cougars' season-opener against 15th-ranked Boston College on Saturday, Sept. 3. The game, which will be the first meeting between the two teams since the 1985 season, will be broadcast live to a regional audience at 1:30 p.m. (MT) from LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah.

The game will mark the first-ever trip to Provo for the Eagles, while the Cougars have won six of their last seven home season-openers, including four straight. Last season, BYU opened with a 20-17 victory over Notre Dame.

Boston College will come to Provo after posting an impressive 9-3 record last season, including a 37-24 victory over North Carolina in the Continental Tire Bowl. According to the 2005 Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook, the Eagles will enter the season as the 15th-ranked team in the nation.

In the last meeting between the two teams, BYU edged Boston College, 28-14, in the Kickoff Classic on Aug. 29, 1985.

Other game times that have been set include the Cougars' league game at San Diego State on Saturday, Oct. 1. Due to General Conference, the game is currently scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. (PT). BYU will also kickoff at Notre Dame on Saturday, Oct. 22, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in South Bend, Ind. That game will be broadcast nationally on NBC.

Season tickets for the 2005 season are currently available by visiting www.BYUTickets.com, or by calling the BYU ticket office at (801) 422-BYU1.
