PROVO (KSL News Services) -- Provo City is moving forward with a plan to find dangerous caves and mine shafts and evaluate if they need to be sealed shut. This after four people tragically died in a cave near ‘Y’ mountain in Provo.

Provo police have released the 9-1-1 call that came in yesterday when a young man realized his four friends weren't coming out of a cave. This is a portion of that call.

Caller: ”Can you send like someone who can go in the cave here to check it out

9-1-1 Operator: We’re going to send mountain rescue but I’m going to send officers and paramedics to start. Ok? We gotta get them called out, ok?

Caller: ok.

9-1-1 Operator: I need you to stay where you’re at.

Caller: I’m staying right here.

Karen Mayne with Provo City Police says they're now working with the forest service and the division of oil and gas to find old mining records. They'll then try and find every mine and cave on the mountain and decide which ones present hazards and need to be sealed off.

”There’s probably many but where they are, hopefully we have the kind of help we need to find out where they are,” says Mayne.

She says they'll do everything they can to prevent another cave tragedy like the one that killed four young adults yesterday but finding all the mine shafts and caves could take a while.
