LONDON, Aug 19, 2005 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- A controversial drama is set to air on Britain's Channel Four that portrays Princess Margaret as a promiscuous drug-user and alcoholic.
"The Queen's Sister" shows the late Princess Margaret performing a sex act on her husband before cheating on him, smoking marijuana, engaging in a lesbian kiss and drinking excessive amounts of whiskey, Britain's Daily Mail reported Friday.
One longtime friend of Margaret's called the drama "a betrayal of her memory and an insult to the queen."
Her former lady-in-waiting, is urging viewers to boycott the "tawdry soap opera."
Touchpaper, which produced the drama, has admitted the film is "not totally factual," the Mail said.
A friend told the newspaper Margaret's husband and son "are very upset." They are refusing to comment in order to avoid giving the movie "the oxygen of publicity," the Mail said.
The movie is scheduled for broadcast in November.
