Randall Jeppesen, KSL NewsradioEarly morning drivers on I-80 coming into Salt Lake valley were surprised by a big boulder this morning around the bend just before the Foothill Drive exit. Workers are removing the boulder sitting right on the shoulder of the road.
Worker: "About a 4 x 5 rock. It's not real common, but we get them occasionally."
This was one of the workers who came to steer traffic away while a front end loader pushed the rock back over to the hillside.
Worker: "(It's) probably two tons."
Worker: "They're probably just warming up after the freeze-thaw cycle."
If anyone would have been driving a bit over the line on the shoulder they would have smacked right into it.
