Mary Richards, KSL Newsradio A group against the recently passed school vouchers law will start gathering signatures full force this week in order to put the issue on a ballot.
It can be hard to get all the signatures needed to put an issue on the ballot or to get voters to pass the issue. But Pat Rusk with Utahns for Public Schools says she's confident voters will speak out against vouchers. "We're very enthused. My phone and my email are filling up right now from total strangers calling and saying, ‘Please get me a petition.'"
The legislature recently passed vouchers into law, saying it gives Utahns a choice in education. But others says polls show Utahns do not want taxpayer money going to private schools.
