(KSL News) -- A faulty pressure valve forced an evacuation today at the Univeristy of Utah.

The Orson Spencer Hall building filled with steam this afternoon, triggering fire alarms. The building was evacuated and witnesses thought the steam was smoke from a fire.

Fire crews arrived and found a pressure relief valve in the basement was releasing too much pressure into the heating and cooling system.

Crews were able to repair the valve and students returned to the building.
