The survey showed Hillary Clinton in first place and former Senator John Edwards in second place among Democratic party leaders. Both were ahead of Senator Barack Obama.
On the Republican side, Senator John McCain trailed former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Nearly eight in 10 GOP insiders said the country would elect a Mormon president, which likely reflects good feelings for Romney. The party insiders polled could have an important role in deciding which of their candidates face each other in 2008.
