SALT LAKE CITY -- People throughout the world, including Utah, have reached out in different ways to help the people in Haiti. Friday, the organization Helping Hands for Haiti took the time to thank some of those people.

Haiti charity takes time to say ‘thank you'

Members gathered at a home to write thank-you notes for the nearly 2,500 people who donated to the organization. They say the notes are a simple way to show their appreciation for those who helped.

One of the donations really touched them.

"We received a donation from a kid who got all ‘A's' on his report card. He donated the whole amount that he received, the $20," said Trent Goddard, treasurer for Helping Hands for Haiti.

That donation came with a letter from the boy saying the money will help the people of Haiti more than him.
