SANDY -- Police are asking for help to identify stolen property.

In late 2009, Sandy police officers discovered a closet full of stolen items during an investigation. They determined the items were most likely stolen during vehicle and residential burglaries throughout Salt Lake County.

Due to the lack of cooperation from the possible suspect and the inability to conclusively prove the items were stolen, police have not filed any formal charges. They are now asking for help in locating victims of these possible crimes.

Police have no way of knowing where the items came from, so they're asking people to look at these items and, if they recognize any of them, to contact the Sandy Police Department at 801-840-4000.

Officers say this case is a reminder for people to mark their personal belongings and keep a list of serial numbers in a safe place.
