KSL’s recent editorial advocating responsible immigration reform in this nation and offering support for Congressman Chris Cannon’s “AgJobs” bill prompted an outpouring of responses from you, our viewers and listeners.

Here are some of them: Former Congressman Merrill Cook wrote, “Cannon’s . . . offering is a smoke screen that has little to do with working in the fields or orchards and everything to do with opening the flood gates for illegal immigration. The ultimate outcome will be to reward bad behavior – indeed to reward illegal behavior.”

Lon D. Simmons wrote, “We have nearly 12 million people in the U.S. who arrived here illegally – good, hardworking, lawbreaking people. I don’t believe for a moment that guest worker status will entice people who are now comfortably in the shadows to make themselves known.”

Dave Collingridge wrote: “The issue of which you seem to be absent minded about is that immigration in the form of Mexicans ‘jumping’ the national border is law breaking activity. From a moral ethical viewpoint, it is just plain wrong, and to tackle the problem by making illegal immigrants legal with the swipe of a pen sets at naught the laws of the land.”
