Tomorrow marks the tenth anniversary of President Gordon B. Hinckley’s ascension to leadership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. What a decade it has been for the venerable prophet-leader of one of the world’s most vibrant and rapidly expanding churches!

From the moment he stood before the news media shortly after his private, formal ordination, he has exuded exceptional energy, optimism and humble confidence.

No Latter-day Saint president has traveled more extensively in an exhausting quest to strengthen an adoring flock and lift them to new spiritual heights. Along the way, his precedent-setting willingness to be accessible to media interviews and make significant public appearances outside traditional church forums has brought greater understanding of Mormonism at home and abroad.

Concurrently, he has been an extraordinary ambassador for Utah and the community where the church he leads is headquartered. To think that he began his presidency at the age of 84, and that he is still going strong at the age of 94, only adds to the esteem in which he is held. KSL expresses ongoing admiration for President Hinckley’s boundless optimism, his wise and eloquent pronouncements and his undeviating commitment to improving the lot of all humankind. It truly has been a remarkable ten years!
