For more than 40-years now, KSL has been broadcasting editorials.

Why do we do it? Why voice opinion and take stands on controversial issues at the risk of offending some of you, our viewers and listeners, especially when it is something broadcasters aren’t required to do? Why not just give you another commercial in this spot so the company can make more money? After all, KSL is one of only a few broadcast organizations still doing editorials.

The reasons are quite simple.

We believe in freedom and the "inalienable right" of men and women to govern themselves.

Such freedom, as allowed in a democracy, is contingent upon having an informed populace. Liberty cannot survive amidst ignorance and apathy. A democracy is only as vibrant as the willingness of citizens and institutions to speak out and exchange strong views and opinions.

Indeed, vigorous debate and the expression of ideas strengthen democracy and ensure freedom.

It is also why each time we do an editorial we encourage our viewers and listeners to respond to the ideas we put forth.

Freedom of thought and speech, and a spirited examination of issues are at the very foundation of the liberties Americans enjoy. That’s why KSL has editorialized since 1962 and it is why we’ll continue to raise our voice in the future.
