(KSL News) Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson is calling for the investigation into and impeachment of President Bush.

According to both the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret Morning News, Anderson's been invited to Washington state to testify before state lawmakers on a resolution calling on Congress to investigate and possibly impeach President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

The resolution cites three reasons for impeachment:

- Discredited reasons given for the invasion of Iraq.
- Warrantless electronic surveillance of U.S. citizens.
- Accusations of the illegal imprisonment and torture of Americans designated as "enemy combatants."

Anderson says if these reasons don't justify impeachment nothing else does.

Utah Republican Party chairwoman Enid Green says Anderson is using his status as Salt Lake mayor to gain attention for his personal agenda.
