(KSL News) Utah will host a presidential primary election next year.
The Deseret Morning News is reporting Governor Huntsman has persuaded lawmakers to put more than $2.5 million toward a primary. That's on top of the $850,000 set aside last year.
The primary will cost $3.5 million. But state officials say a Western States Primary will give Utahns a meaningful voice in helping select a new president.
The primaries will be held February 5, the same day as primaries in several larger states like California.
