(KSL News) -- A man died Friday morning after his car slammed into a freeway barrier in Salt Lake County.
The man was trying to merge onto I- 215 from northbound, I- 15, when he lost control and hit the barrier.
The car veered across the road and hit the barrier on the other side of the road.

Authorities say he was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown into the passenger side of the car, and partly out the window.
Andy Campbell, Utah Highway Patrol: "He'd have probably walked away at least with minor injuries or probably survived if he'd have been restrained."
The victim was picked up by a medical helicopter, but pronounced dead at the hospital.
Witnesses say he was speeding.
