SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The man accused of kidnapping Elizabeth Smart is now in the Utah State Hospital.

Brian David Mitchell was transferred to the state hospital yesterday. A judge determined Mitchell incompetent to stand trial last month.

Department of Human Service spokeswoman Carol Sisco says the transfer went smoothly. She says Mitchell will be placed in the forensic unit at the hospital and given his own private room.

Over the next couple of days at the hospital Mitchell will undergo basic tests such as a physical.

Mitchell and his estranged wife, Wanda Barzee, are charged with aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated sexual assault, aggravated burglary and conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping.
