(KSL News) With this storm, Utah State Parks and Recreation and the Avalanche Forecast Center are urging snowmobile riders to stay out of avalanche areas.

They say you should stay on groomed trails and flat terrain this weekend and offered a few other tips:

Make sure someone knows your itinerary.

When you head out, make sure you bring a beacon, a probe, a shovel and a first aid kit. Also, make sure someone knows where you're going and when you plan to be back.

You can also call ahead for avalanche conditions. Just call 1-800-OHV-RIDE.
