(Salt Lake City-AP) -- A national report on the status of women said Utah women are the healthiest in the country, but their incomes are anything but robust.

Studies based on census and other data show that Utah women are least likely to die of lung cancer. But they only earn an average of 25 thousand dollars a year.

In terms of health, Utah women rank in the top ten in all categories except mental health. Utah is 43rd worst in women's suicide mortality rate.

A recent report from the Washington-based Institute for Women's Policy Research measured the quality of life -- broken down into five main categories -- for women in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

A more comprehensive report, including comment from a Utah panel, is expected in the fall of 2004.
