SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A Salt Lake City-based medical technology company is among the "100 Best Companies to Work For," according to Fortune magazine's annual survey.

ARUP Laboratories came in at No. 82 on the list. It's Utah's only company to make the list.

Companies were ranked according to employees' responses to surveys, as well as an analysis of company benefit packages and work practices. The Great Place to Work Institute in San Francisco compiled the list for Fortune.

Ronald Weiss, senior vice president at ARUP, said the company was pleased that so much emphasis was placed on employees' responses, as workers' feedback accounted for two-thirds of the total score.

ARUP works hard to attract and retain good employees, Weiss said, which can be difficult in an industry starving for qualified professionals.

More than 40,700 workers from 269 companies responded to the Fortune survey.

Taking the top spot again this year was stock brokerage firm Edward Jones. The top 25 companies also include Adobe Systems, J.M. Smucker, Pfizer and Cisco Systems.

ARUP finished ahead of companies such as The New York Times and Nordstrom.

The survey is featured in the Fortune magazine that will be on newsstands Jan 20.
