(Salt Lake City, KSL News) -- Traffic was stopped along Foothill Blvd. Wednesday afternoon as bomb technicians and a robot detonated a highly toxic substance.

One quart of ethyl ether was found today at the VA Medical Center. The mixture had apparently been forgotten about, and had been left in the area for so long that it crystallized. Ether is normally used in hospitals as anesthesia.

Nearly 165 people were evacuated from the VA Medical Center while the technicians safely detonated the substance. No one was hurt.
