(Salt Lake City, KSL News) -- It was "show and tell" time for the U.S. Coast Guard today as it displayed an amazing five tons of cocaine it seized, along with the accused smugglers.
The crew of the Coast Guard ship "Diligence" seized the five tons of coke a few weeks ago, and arrested eight suspected smugglers off the Pacific coast of Panama.
It's one of the largest drug busts in the ship's history with the cocaine having an estimated street value of $300 million.
The 50-pound blocks of cocaine will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency to be destroyed in high temperature ovens.
