(Salt Lake City, KSL News) -- A man is in custody after ramming a Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputy who later chased him on foot and wrestled him to the ground.

The man was driving a stolen car and was wanted on drug warrants.

The chase started when the man saw a patrol car turn on its flashing lights for an unrelated reason, and began to speed away.

The chase reached speeds of 60 to 70 miles per hour in a residential neighborhood.

The suspect rammed the deputy's car and then the chase dead-ended against a backyard wall.

The man will be charged with aggravated assault and other charges.
