(Logan-AP) -- Utah State University has announced that it will cut four technology programs in the College of Engineering.
Two associates degree programs -- computer aided drafting and aircraft maintenance technician -- will be eliminated. So will two bachelors degree programs -- computer electronics technology and welding engineering technology.
The cuts will involve about 10 members of the faculty and 160 students.
School administrators plan to begin phasing out freshmen-level classes in those programs this year. Those currently enrolled in the programs should be able to finish their degrees.
Dean H. Scott Hinton says the elimination will save 600-thousand dollars in salaries alone, and that money will be directed to other programs in the College of Engineering.
