(Salt Lake City- KSL TV) Couples who apply for a marriage license in Utah could soon have a new option.
A bill creating a "covenant marriage" was passed by the House yesterday and is on its way to the Senate.
Couples who choose the option must undergo pre-marital counseling and agree to divorce ONLY in cases of adultery, imprisonment, abandonment, abuse or if BOTH parties agree.
Current law allows divorce for any reason. And only one partner needs to petition.
