(Heber City-AP) -- A 64-year-old Provo man died after crashing his snowmobile in Wasatch County yesterday.

Richard Bednar and his wife were snowmobiling near their cabin east of Heber City. The two lost sight of each other for a short time, and when Bednar's wife found him, he was off his sled and stuck headfirst in nearly four feet of snow and water.

She told sheriff's deputies that Bednar was struggling to free himself and she tried to help. Deputies say Bednar was underwater for about an hour.
