SALT LAKE CITY -- Fewer Utahns will be traveling this Christmas.

AAA says the number of people going away for the holiday will be down by more than 4 percent from last year. That bucks the national trend, with the number of travelers expected to go up by more than 3 percent.

The drop in travelers in the Mountain West is being blamed on rising unemployment and the fact that distances between cities are greater.
