(KSL News) The Layton Police Department has an easier way to document what goes on at a crime scene. Its entire fleet has been fitted with on-board digital camera systems. While the idea of cameras isn't new, the format is.

Layton PD to Wirelessly Transmit Digital Images at Close of Shift

The department used to deal with clumsy VCR machines. Now, it has a system that is more clear and easier to transfer and store.

Jason Nordgran, Layton Police Dept.: "When we pull into the station, the digital recorders hot sync to our station and then immediately, wirelessly transmit everything."

The new technology also makes cases a lot easier to present in court.
