Greg Neft, Ksl Newsradio A cabdriver is all right after police say he was threatened by his passenger.

Police say it happened in Murray early this morning when the rider pulled a hard object to the cabbie's back and ordered a detour.

Sgt. John Barker: "They pulled down into the area of 7th West and 40th South, there's a little park down there. He took some cash."

But Salt Lake County Sheriff Sgt. John Barker says it didn't end there.

Sgt. John Barker: "He forced the cab driver to take him to his home."

And when the passenger found there was no more money, he took what he could.

Sgt. John Barker: "Suspect jumped in the cab and took off."

Police found the cab and the suspect a short time later. A responding deputy driving through a nearby parking lot noticed a man matching the suspect's description leaning against a building. He found the cabbie's I.D. and money on the man.

The suspect will be charged with car theft, kidnapping and aggravated robbery.

The cabbie is said to be OK.
