SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Elizabeth Smart will appear on the syndicated television program "The John Walsh Show" scheduled to be aired Friday, the program's spokesman said Thursday.

During the show, which already has been taped, her parents, Ed and Lois Smart, will speak with host John Walsh about the new nationwide Amber Alert legislation President Bush signed Wednesday.

Elizabeth, 15, plays two songs on the harp but doesn't speak during the program, said spokesman Gary Rosen.

She made her first public appearance since her return to her family during the ceremony Wednesday at the White House Rose Garden.

The teen was taken at knifepoint from her bedroom in the early hours of June 5 and held for nine months before being found in a Salt Lake City suburb on March 12. A religious zealot and his wife are charged in the kidnapping.
