Keith McCord Reporting ...I'm in a bad mood.
I have a headache -- they always make me grumpy.
I have 13-bucks in my pocket -- to last until payday which isn’t until next week.
And now the boss wants me to do a story about people who are grumpy!
Keith McCord, Eyewitness News: "OK, IN THE DICTIONARY, GRUMPY OR GROUCHY MEANS...SURLY, ILL-TEMPERED. A COMPLAINER, A GRUMBLER, SOREHEAD, SOURPUSS, BELLYACHER."
Yep, that's me today. And I noticed in the paper that today is the 2nd Annual "Great American Grump Out"!
There's even a website which urges people to abstain from being grumpy for 24-hours. That's kind of difficult. After all, temperatures are in the mid-90's already, and it's still May! THAT makes me really grumpy!
And, I'm not the only one, apparently. Look at the faces of people walking downtown today -- not a lot of smiles here!
I get grumpy when I check my e-mail every morning and have 75-SPAMS!
Or when the phone rings at 8:05 am with the telemarketers already calling -- that'll make anyone grumpy!
Back to the Grump Out web page. It lists solutions for grumpiness: Laugh, smile, and carry a banana! It's the "official" fruit of the "Great American Grump Out", you know!
Apparently, a nicely curved banana will resemble a smile and will make us do the same! Well, I'm feeling better already. I've got my banana … and I've snuck away from work early to work on my slice. Boy, talk about making me grumpy!
