SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Police said Wednesday they will begin searching in Mexico for the former boyfriend of one of the three people shot to death at a convenience store last weekend.
A Delta Air Lines clerk told police that the suspect, Luis Alberto Salinas, 22, bought a ticket for an 11:40 a.m. Saturday flight to Mexico City. The shooting occurred about eight hours before the flight.
"We're assuming that if he bought the ticket ... he has gone to Mexico," said Police Capt. Mark Peck. Police will work with Mexican authorities on apprehending Salinas and returning him to Utah.
Lorie Roberta Gurule, 22, Aristeo Torres, 30, and Juan Alberto Ruiz, 40, were shot early Saturday in an idling SUV outside a convenience store.
Peck said witnesses provided information that led police to identify Salinas as the suspect.
