Sam Penrod reportingA high speed chase ended right in the middle of Heber City, when a car eluding police, crashed.

Speeds outside of Heber are believed to have been higher than 120- miles per hour and now the driver of the truck is in the hospital and the passenger is in jail.

This started about 8:30 this morning when a Wasatch County deputy sheriff clocked the truck in Daniels Canyon going around 120 miles per hour. He started chasing the truck, but backed off when the truck got closer to town.

However, the truck continued into town at a high rate of speed, lost control and crashed into a power pole in the parking lot of the High County Inn motel in Heber City. The crash critically injured the woman who was driving, she was airlifted to a Salt Lake City hospital. The passenger was arrested and taken to jail. The manager of the motel heard about the chase on a police scanner and was shocked as she watched the truck crash right in front of her.

It turns out the truck was stolen from Ogden and may have been carrying some stolen items in the back.

Investigators at this point are unsure why the truck was traveling so fast and if the couple were running from something out of the Duchense area.
