SANDY -- Police officers from several agencies wrapped up a drug-sweep operation Tuesday, arresting people they say have been distributing drugs to Utah County high schools.
Over six random days, police from Sandy, West Jordan and the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force arrested nearly 40 people -- mostly lower-level drug dealers -- and recovered heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and two guns. Money and several vehicles were also siezed.
During one attempted arrest, police say a suspect tried to ram a police vehicle as he tried to flee.
Police say they've had a problem with people buying drugs in Salt Lake County and redistributing them to high schools and other areas in Utah County.
