Maritza Aguilar and her boyfriend were found shot to death one week ago today. And their murders are still very much a mystery.
What was a difficult day Saturday was even more painful as Maritza Aguilar's family is still wondering who killed Maritza and her boyfriend? And why?
Franco Aguilar/Cousin: "I MISS EVERYTHING ABOUT HER."
A family shares fond memories of Maritza Aguilar and her boyfriend Pablo Montoya.
Alex Canchola/ Maritza's Cousin: "THEY WOULD ALWAYS TAKE ME PLACES WHEN THEY WENT TOGETHER. THEY'D ALWAYS MAKE ME FEEL GOOD. I LIKED BEING WITH THEM."
Freddy Aguilar/Maritza's Cousin: "IF ANYBODY WAS DOWN, SHE WOULD PICK YOU UP."
Saturday they said their last goodbyes as 22-year-old Aguilar was laid to rest.
Freddy Aguilar/Maritza's Cousin: "THE REALITY THAT SHE CAN'T BE THERE ANY MORE FOR US, FOR MY AUNTS, FOR MY FAMILY, IT'S JUST HARD ON EVERYBODY BECAUSE WE'RE NOT GOING TO SEE HER SMILE ANY MORE."
Aguilar and Montoya were found a week ago inside Aguilar's car, shot to death. Police say whoever pulled the trigger may have been in the backseat and the victims may have known the person.
Franco Aguilar/Maritza's Cousin: "FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE HER LIFE LIKE THIS, I JUST CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY ANYONE WOULD WANT TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT."
The family says they have little peace knowing the couple's killer is still out there somewhere.
Alex Canchola/Maritza's Cousin: "IT'S A LOT HARDER NOT KNOWING WHO IT WAS. IT WOULD BE A LOT EASIER IF WE DID KNOW 'CAUSE WE LOVED THEM BOTH VERY MUCH."
The family hopes someone will come forward. Meanwhile, Freddy Aguilar had this message for his cousin's killer:
Freddy Aguilar/Maritza's Cousin: "YOU HAVE NO HEART. YOU HAVE NO HEART."
Funeral services for Aguilar's boyfriend, Pablo Montoya, are scheduled for Monday. He leaves behind a two-year-old son.
