(KSL TV) A two alarm fire destroyed part of a Taylorsville apartment complex Saturday afternoon.

Crews were called to the Fairwood Apartments at 1976 West 5735 South after a fire started in the bottom unit.

The flames quickly moved up the side of the building, causing damage to the second and third floor apartments as well.

Neighboring residents quickly jumped in to help out.

Capt. Fitzgerald Petersen/Salt Lake Co. Fire Dept.: "If you look on the ground where the first floor is, where the point of origin may be, you'll see several used extinguishers that the residents of this complex tried to fight the fire."

Crews evacuated the occupants of all six apartment units in the building as a precaution. No one was hurt.

Investigators believe the fire may have started from a bar-be-que grill being used by residents of the basement apartment.
