BATTLE MOUNTAIN, Nev. (AP) -- A Utah motorcyclist was seriously injured and his female passenger killed when their motorcycle suffered a flat tire and flipped on U.S. Interstate 80.

Barbara Keehan, 60, Midvale, Utah, died from injuries she suffered in the crash just after 7 p.m. Sunday about 17 miles east of Battle Mountain, Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Rocky Gonzalez said Monday.

Robert H. Mahoney, 64, Midvale, was driving the Honda motorcycle with a trailing unit in tow eastbound on the interstate when he suffered the flat and began to lose control of the motorcycle, Gonzalez said.

"Mahoney steered to the right but the motorcycle and trailer overturned onto its left side," he said.

Both were transported to area hospitals. Mahoney later was transferred to Washoe Medical Center in Reno, where hospital spokeswoman Judy Davis said Monday he was listed in fair condition. An investigation continues.
