Downtown Salt Lake City has a new attraction. Mayor Rocky Anderson has brought four new permanent chess tables to Main Street, located between 2nd and 3rd South.

Sam Weller's Zion Bookstore has decided to "break in" the new tables by holding a chess tournament, which begins today and runs through Tuesday, July 22nd.

The city has also purchased clocks and game pieces that the public can check out for free from Sam Weller's Bookstore.
