(KSL News) -- A Magna woman who tried to cash a check that belonged to dead Deseret Morning News reporter Norma Wagner has been charged with forgery and theft.

Terrill Ann Hernandez now faces up to five years in prison. She's accused of trying to cash the 13-hundred dollar check last month, just 12 hours after Wagner was found dead in her Avenues home.

Salt Lake police are still trying to determine if there is a connection.
