Stacey Butler ReportingPolice have arrested a Syracuse man accused of rape and sexual assault in crimes involving minors. And officers believe there are more victims who haven't come forward yet.
Police say the 25-year old suspect raped two 13-year old girls and sexually abused a 14-year old girl over the past year and a half. Already they've learned of another victim and they expect more to come forward.
Police say twenty five year old Craig Sanchez used alcohol to lure the girls back to his parents’ house in Syracuse where he raped them. Police say two of the 13-year olds became pregnant. One girl aborted the pregnancy; the other is now a 14-year old mother.
Neither of the girls' parents contacted police when they discovered what Sanchez had done.
Police say Sanchez approached three of the girls at parties around Layton. One of the girls he approached at the Layton city park where she was playing with friends.
Detective: “He would meet with them, just befriend them, talk with them. The girls thought he was 17, 18 years of age."
But the ex coastguardsmen is twenty-five. And was charged in the past with child sex abuse, but was acquitted when the victim declined to testify.
Detective: “It's my belief that he has done this continually."
Police suspect there are other sixth-graders who have been victimized, but are too afraid to come forward.
Detective: “We would hope that there are no more victims, but if there are we want them to contact police as soon as possible.”
Sanchez faces two counts of first-degree felony rape of a child and one count of sexual abuse of a child.
