(KSL News) -- An Amber alert issued in Phoenix this morning turned out to be a false alarm.
Police say a woman was found shot and wounded and told deputies the gunman had taken her baby boy. Authorities issued an amber alert and found the car the suspect was driving. It had been set on fire.
But police later learned the mother actually left her son with a family friend Thursday night. Deputies don't know why she misled them.
The search continues for the man accused of shooting the woman.
