(KSL News) -- A little girl found crossing Redwood Road alone on her tricycle are back safe with her parents this morning.

The girl was spotted by a passerby in West Valley City Wednesday afternoon. Thirty hours later, no one had reported the girl missing.

The girl was unable to tell police where she lived, only that her name was Marie. She wasn't even able to tell them whether she was three, four or five years old.

Just before 10:00 last night, police finally located her parents. Turns out they each had assumed the other was watching the girl.

Lt. John Cordona, Salt Lake City Police Department: "I'm baffled by the fact that mom and dad didn't communicate and mom and dad may think that it was with grandmother and grandmother may think it was with mom and dad and no one checks and verifies. No one talks to each other. Communication is key. Thirty hours later we find out. Perhaps a little more clear communication on exactly what's going to happen, assuming that's what it is."

Police say the girl is ok, and spent the time in the Christmas Box house. They are evaluating whether criminal charges will be filed against the family or if it was an innocent case of miscommunication.
