(KSL News) -- Salt Lake city police officers had their hands full with a man wanted for burglary over the weekend.

Police say Josh Baxter took off on foot after officers tried to question him at a downtown hotel. Turns out he had a warrant out for his arrest.

Officers finally caught up with him, but the fight wasn't over there. Baxter struggled, hit an officer in the eye, and finally had to be pepper-sprayed to be brought under control.

That officer is okay this afternoon, but he did have to have a couple stitches.

And two more men tried to run away from cops, this time in West Jordan.

Police say the men crashed a car off of Bangerter Highway and then took off over the fence and into a nearby neighborhood.

Empty beer cans falling out of the car were a good indication to police that they had been drinking.

Officers say they are aggressively looking for drunk drivers this holiday weekend, and our encouraging everyone to be patient on the roads and to take it slow.
