(Logan-AP) -- A cat may be the victim of a mountain lion attack in North Logan.
The attacked happened just after midnight Tuesday.
A resident told police he heard a thump outside his home, opened the front door, and saw a large brown animal with a tail.
He said the animal had a white cat in its mouth and was shaking it.
The resident scared off the wild animal and the cat was left dead in the front yard.
This is the first sighting of a mountain lion in North Logan this summer.
Police say mountain lions sometimes follow deer into the city.
Fish and game officials will meet with police to follow up on the attack.
