(Salt Lake City-AP) -- The executive director of the Utah Department of Transportation will be named to a new post this week.
John Njord will be inducted as president of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Tuesday in Minneapolis.
AASHTO is an organization of all 50 U-S transportation departments.
The 42-year old is the second Utahn to head the post in four years.
He follows Tom Warne who was president of AASHTO from 1999-2000.
Nord will likely face Congress in the coming months when they consider re-authorization of the federal transportation funding act that expires at the end of this month.
Without it, D-O-T executives across the U-S will have to scramble to cover a $200 (m) million dollar bill for transportation.
