ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- A canyoneer killed in an apparent fall in Zion National Park has been identified by Washington County sheriff's officers as Christopher Frankewicz, 37, of Springdale.

Sheriff's spokesman Rob Tersigni said Frankewicz had a permit to descend Behunin Canyon on Friday.

Friends reported him overdue Friday night, and his body was found Saturday.

Behunin Canyon is a popular route that requires many rope rappels up to 160 feet. It ends with a final rappel into Zion Canyon in the area of the Emerald Pools.
