(KSL News) -- A 12- year boy is in extremely critical condition tonight, after an apparent accidental shooting in South Jordan.
Police, say the boy and his 14- year old friend, were helping their neighbors with some yard work, when a gunshot from the garage was heard. Once on the scene, witnesses, found the 12-year-old with a bullet wound to the head. He was flown to Primary Children's Medical Center.
Neighbors have been left shocked by the incident.
Mark Higley/Neighbor "AT FIRST YOU'RE PRETTY MUCH HELPLESS UNTIL YOU KIND OF KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. YOU JUST DON'T REALLY REALIZE WHAT HAS HAPPENED AND TO HAVE THAT HAPPEN TO SUCH A YOUNG CHILD IS PRETTY DEVASTATING."
Police, say the gun belonged to the homeowner. And, they believe it was inside a vehicle in the garage. Authorities, are now interviewing the homeowners, as well as the second boy.
