(KSL News ) -- A mentally ill man could face life in the state mental hospital for killing his mother with a hatchet.
Leonard Preston Gall struck a plea deal in court today. Gall admitted in court that he killed his mother in December 2001, stole her car and fled to Reno, Nevada.
Gall will be sentenced in March for manslaughter and theft.
His case sparked new legislation making it easier to force mentally ill people into treatment.
