Legislature to Announce Additional State Surplus Today

(KSL News) You can add another $149 million to the state surplus.

Today the legislature is supposed to announce the surplus. The question lawmakers are wrestling with: Will it spark larger tax cuts?

More than half the money is from ongoing sources. The rest is one-time money. This is important because only ongoing revenue can be used for permanent tax cuts.

Right now the governor and legislature are trying to compromise on a $210-million cut.
