(Salt Lake City-AP) -- The Governor's off to Washington, but groups are voicing their opinions in Utah.

Six Utah environmental groups will meet today in downtown Salt Lake City to oppose Governor Mike Leavitt's nomination by President Bush to head the E-P-A.

Environmentalists say Leavitt's record shows a pattern of working to weaken environmental regulatory agencies.

Leavitt will be grilled by the Senate in a series of confirmation hearings set to begin Tuesday.

Three U-S Senators have already said they'll try to block the confirmation to get answers about why the White House pressured the E-P-A not to warn New York residents of the danger from airborne asbestos, lead and other harmful substances following the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
